Major trends in COPD and bronchiectasis induced morbidity in the Russian Federation in 2005-2012

COPD is one of the major health problems. WHO expects a significant increase in the number of COPD cases and death cases associated with the nosology over the next decade. Authors analyze general and primary COPD morbidity in Russia in different age groups (0-14 years, 15-17 years, adults) over the period of 2005-2012. Conclusions are following: a) general and primary morbidity among adults has an upward trend, general and primary morbidity among 0-14 age group has declined, general morbidity for 15-17 years old has declined and primary is on the rise; b) indexes for general and primary COPD morbidity show great regional variations; c) in some years a number of regions doesn’t register primary morbidity cases among children: d) in a number of regions COPD morbidity data are not statistically significant, primarily due to coding errors.

The article presents modern data on rare (orphan) hereditary and congenital diseases, gives the definitions, considers approaches to assessing the incidence and prevalence of diseases, the existing problems in the diagnosis and treatment of rare diseases in the world and in our country. Introduced are lists of hereditary diseases and syndromes classified as rare. The most urgent problems of rare diseases requiring urgent solutions are addressed.

The characteristic of the HIV-infected condemned women who have asked for a psychological assistance

The social and demographic characteristic of the HIV-infected condemned women are given in the article. Data on distribution of the HIV-infected condemned women on age, relationship status, education, occupation, nationality and state of health are investigated. The identity of the condemned women is closely connected with their criminal and legal characteristic. Specific properties and qualities of the women serving sentence bringing them into imprisonment places are investigated. The analysis of category of the crime committed by women, numbers of criminal records, term of the punishment appointed by court, a type of the establishment, actually served sentence of punishment and unexpired term of punishment in correctional facility is carried out. The assessment of the HIV-infected condemned women during stay in correctional facility is carried out. It showed where and in what establishment serves sentence condemned as influences on condemned as its characterized, the relation to work, study, another condemned, what its general characteristic according to administration. Social communications of the HIV-infected condemned women are studied. The materialized means of communication of HIV-infected condemned with the family, stability of personal contacts, manifestations by the family of care of the condemned are estimated. The analysis of disciplinary practice of the HIV-infected condemned women is carried out.

Are drugs with the same International Non-proprietary Name (INN) substitutable? Analysis of international experience with cyclosporine

The analysis of policy related to International Non-proprietary Name (INN) substitution in different countries is undertaken with cyclosporine as example. It is shown that regulatory policy is different in different countries with majority leaving decision on substitution to physician. Professional associations are opposing to INN substitution for cyclosporine without physician knowledge and agreement despite the fact that European regulatory agency place higher demands demonstration of bioequivalence.
