Abstract

COPD is one of the major health problems. WHO expects a significant increase in the number of COPD cases and death cases associated with the nosology over the next decade. Authors analyze general and primary COPD morbidity in Russia in different age groups (0-14 years, 15-17 years, adults) over the period of 2005-2012. Conclusions are following: a) general and primary morbidity among adults has an upward trend, general and primary morbidity among 0-14 age group has declined, general morbidity for 15-17 years old has declined and primary is on the rise; b) indexes for general and primary COPD morbidity show great regional variations; c) in some years a number of regions doesn’t register primary morbidity cases among children: d) in a number of regions COPD morbidity data are not statistically significant, primarily due to coding errors.
